What Does "Nano" Really Mean?

Nano refers to materials measured at an extremely small scale, but not every product marketed as "nano" is built the same.

Agricultural technologies may use several different approaches:

• Nano-sized particles or molecules designed for improved dispersion and interaction with plant surfaces
• Nano-encapsulation that carries or protects an active ingredient
• Nanoemulsions that create very small droplets for improved mixing and coverage
• Chelated or complexed nutrients that improve stability and availability but may not technically be nano
• Conventional nutrient solutions that simply use "nano" as a marketing term
